The Proverbs 31 Wanna-be Club

Proverbs 31 Wanna-Be Club intro

I’m a list sort of gal. I love a good list to work down and the thrill of checking tasks off both motivates me and gives me a feeling of worth. You would think that a passage of scripture that describes a noble woman would be encouraging since all of her traits are basically listed one after another.

Nope, at least that’s not how I felt after the first few reads of Proverbs 31. It wasn’t until I started seeing all of these Proverb 31 blogs/blog posts that I began to understand. When I started to read them I had this snarky little attitude, “Humph, there’s no way these women are equal to the Proverb 31 woman. It’s virtually impossible.”

Judgmental much? I’m a child of God, meaning a work in progress. If I didn’t have issues… I wouldn’t need him, right? So no, I’m not perfect. In reality, neither were these bloggers who I was passing judgement on.

So I hung up my judgmental attitude on the shelf and re-read these blogs/posts. You know what they all have in common? They’re all “Proverbs 31 wanna-be’s.” That’s right, and I’m right there with them.

They’re not claiming to have each characteristic mastered. Nope, they spend their time working on characteristics that they lack in because they are not perfect, no one is or ever will be. So why was I beating myself up (and beating them up in my mind) for not being perfect?

Proverbs 31 Wanna-Be Club

Welcome to Hoosier-land Homemaker Proverbs 31 Wanna-Be Club. Being a part of the (non-spoken) Wanna-Be Club is the entire reason to this blog. My goal is to break Proverbs 31:10-31 down to find out exactly what her characteristics are, find out what areas of my own life need additional work, and figure out how to go about becoming a wife who is “worth far more than rubies”.

I’d love for you to join along but please don’t make my previous mistake, we are all unique children of God, so my journey will be different than the one you take. However, that doesn’t mean that we can’t inspire each other along the way.
